For the 6th matchday of the Greek Super League, AEK welcomes Ionikos to the OPAP Arena.
Easier than he imagined AEK won the previous matchday in Agrinio over Panaitolikos with 2-0. She entered strongly from the beginning of the match and created several chances in the first half, but she was unlucky and misguided, while defensively she risked little. In the second half she was more effective and found the way to the net twice and got the three points.
This was the 3rd victory for the Union in the league in a total of 5 matches, having also 2 defeats, and after the weekend results is in 6th place with 9 points having, of course, one match less.
Today's match is of historical importance for AEK as it returns after 19 years to its natural home and after last Friday's opening ceremony it's time for the first official match with naturally packed stands.
He continues to worry the Ionian at the start of the tournament, the previous matchday was easily defeated in Volos by the local team with 2-0. His start was very bad as he found himself behind in the score from the 15th minute, he tried to react afterwards having two good moments but without substance. In the second half, he again started badly by conceding a second goal in the 54th minute and essentially everything was over as he did not have the mental strength to avoid defeat.
So the Ionian remains, together with Levadeiakos, without a win in the league and with an overall record of 1 draw and 4 defeats they are at the bottom of the standings despite the given quality of his roster.
Big day for AEK as it returns to New Philadelphia. That alone is a big reason for him to take the win tonight in good form and based on the scoreboard he couldn't have a more passable opponent. Ionikos is fighting it, but for the time being nothing is coming out on the field and it is unlikely that he will get anything from the match today.
Suggestion: AEK to score in both halves with an odds of 1.88
