Back to winning ways for Birmingham, last week they beat Swansea 4-3 away from home. As the final score shows, it was an exciting match where the visitors opened the scoring in the 14th minute, but the Welsh turned the situation around almost immediately (23rd, 29th). In the second half, the Birmingham team equalized at 2-2 (55'), but the hosts took the lead again (58'). Nevertheless, Eustace's team achieved an incredible turnaround in stoppage time (90', 90+7') and thus celebrated a great victory!
This was an important three points for Birmingham as they were on a 5-game losing streak and took a big breather in the points table, now climbed to 18th place with 35 points and increased the gap to 7 points from the danger zone.
Back to success for West Brom as well, the previous matchday they beat Coventry at home 1-0. She may not have impressed with her performance but she completely dominated the whole match, was lucky to score in the first fifteen minutes and then looked for a second goal without success while defensively risking little.
So she got her 4th win in the last 5 matches and the end of the match found West Brom in 6th place – and last place which gives participation in the promotion play offs - of the score with 44 points.
In the off-season, we had the renewal of the contract of the Spanish technician Cormepran during the week, despite the interest of Leeds.
Birmingham is coming off a win with great points and psychological value, West Brom have shown improvement in recent matches after changing their bench. Great local derby, both like open and attacking football with a preference for big scores!
