The Finance Ministry had stated that to tthe end of October would have ended with the bill which would proceed to the full licensing of betting companies in Greece. But it has been December and has yet to announce anything, nor has it put the draft law in order to listen to market people, nor has it sent anything to the European Commission.
Once again we are leaving another time and licensing we hear and licensing we do not see. An entire area with very significant state revenues does not make half a step ahead and the market remains with 24 temporarily licensed betting companies.
Permanent licensing of online gambling ... is still pending.
The original plan was to license according to the procedure given to the respective channels, but their failure to complete cut off whatever mood there was at that moment.
They have now returned to the original plan that has been being discussed for years, which is nothing more than copying the license model of Denmark with some variations.
According to infobeto, the Ministry is geared to give permission within a period that will keep 6 months and below specified specifications that companies have to meet, while the licensing process will be open to anyone interested and without numerical limitation.
It is estimated that for 7authorized the cost will be at 750.000 euro while at the same time the tax will remain at 35%.
