Vettel the insurmountable

Vettel the insurmountable

from BC / FORMULA1 / Monday, October 31 2011 10: 41

The first GP on Indian terrain carries Sebastian Vettel's stamp, with his own pole position, his own track record, his own fastest lap and of course his own victory. From the first to the last moment in India, the German champion literally captivated at all levels, impressing once more.

The second place in India and also in the championship itself belongs to Jenson Button. McLaren is second in line as the Englishman has shown that he is trustworthy and, as we have said before, silly. If it was his car in better condition (capable of dealing with RedBull's cars), the story would have been written otherwise.

Ferrari has her matador, as Fernando Alonso managed to win another third stadium on the podium. With intelligent strategy and fast rounds where needed he managed to overcome any lagging Ferrari had over Webber's RB7 and displace him with ease. The Australian failed to stand up to expectations and could not do anything better than the fourth. This year, in general, he appears to be in the shade of the Vettel, which has cost him irreparably.

On the other hand the sacred cow, listening to the name Michael Schumacher, managed and rounded to fifth place, followed by another Mercedes of Nico Rosberg. They both drove amazingly and managed to find themselves in these two positions, which eventually would have to be matched by their own dynamics, if we take into account their own cars.

The great disappointment, of course, came from the well-known unknown Lewis Hamilton, who once again squeezed the heart with milk. Where he seemed able to make a difference and get a very good result he managed not only to vaccinate Ferrari's Massa but to lose a few places to make McLaren's ability to run again. The striking thing is that the Stewards have punished Massa and not Hamilton, which has resulted in moanings on many fronts. The seventh place he seized is considered good if we take into account the general picture of the race. We were just disappointed as we all hoped for something better.

The top ten were Alguersuari (Toro Rosso-Ferrari), Sutil (Force India-Mercedes) and Perez (Sauber-Ferrari). The impressive Buddh track with the Indians puts glasses in many countries across the globe, including us. The dust that has plagued many drivers is one of the childish mistakes that certainly does not mean to re-employ any of us, since we must not forget that it was completed a few days before the race, a project so big and so difficult. We look forward to the last two races in Abu Dhabi and Brazil.
