Catalonia, Barcelona in particular, was the first track that changed somewhat this year. It was about time. Mark Webber came first in the current timings and took his first pole position, while usual suspect Sebastian Vettel will start tomorrow from second place. So tomorrow, the two Red Bulls will start first and second for once again. McLaren looked like she would follow with her own pair of pilots, but Mr Alonso went with Ferrari, among them. Lewis Hammilton closes the first three, while Alonso, Button and Petrov second. Behind you will see Nico Rosberg's Mercedes, Felipe Massa's Ferrari, and Pastor Maldonado's ninth place with Williams.
Red Bull's leadership is now given as it has pole position in all this year's Gp. So far with Vettel, and today with the Australian who, like last year, this year also puts his own stamp in Barcelona. Five in five, after having a known drink, is probably giving wings to his car.
The first surprise is Fernando Alonso, who slowly appears to find his footsteps. With a stunning lap he managed to get between the very strong McLaren and steal fourth place from the otherwise great Button. Until this round of course Ferrari did not seem to be on this track but somewhere else, so the credit for this performance probably should go more to the pilot than to the technical price.
The second surprise is Pastor Maldonado's Williams-Cosworth, this year's rally that will start with so many car behind him, including his Michael Schumacher.
As far as tomorrow's fight is concerned, things seem to be trivial if we do not consider the factor elastically. This is the point at which everything will be judged as anyone who manages to keep the soft gum more in warm Barcelona will see his chances of rising sharply. In this area, Webber seems to be better than his teammate and the fact that the Catalan capital is "own" on the track gives him a small lead. On the other hand, the well-known unknown is, as we all know, as a monk-pha, and I do not think to leave this opportunity to be lost. The third place seems to be coming up any of the two Britons win the battle of tires. And believe me, it's not easy at all!
