On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, the 3rd International Scientific Conference on the Challenges and Prospects of Sports Betting for the Greek Economy and Society was held today at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The conference was co-organized by the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life of the University of Peloponnese and the Greek Forum for the Digital Future. 35 speakers were present, including 6 foreign guests, 2 Ministers and 2 Secretaries-General.
Key topics of the work were: a) the online betting industry in Greece with emphasis on financial opportunities and opportunities under the new regulatory framework, b) the regulatory framework in Greece regarding technological developments and innovation, c) the relationship betting with society and in particular sponsorship policy, advertising and communication; and d) gaming and the rapidly expanding e-sports industry.
The conference was welcomed by the Rector of the University of the Peloponnese, Mr. A. Katsis, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee and Dean of the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life of the University of the Peloponnese, Mr. Panagiotis D. and Mr. Takis. C. Tsekeris.
Government representatives such as the Minister of Finance, Mr. Staikouras and the Deputy Minister of Sport, Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, as well as Members of the Hellenic Parliament such as Mr. Bogdanos, also attended the event. Mr. G. Vlachos, Mr. G. Pappas, Mr. M. Katsis and Mr. D. Constantopoulos. The Chairman of the Committee on Game Control and Control, Mr. E.
