The tribute to Ireland could not close with the most famous Irish musicians. My favorite song from U2 is of course Sunday Bloody Sunday. Anyone unfamiliar with the tragic story of the day to which the song refers should watch Paul Greengrass's amazing semi-documentary film Bloody Sunday (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280491/?ref_=nv_sr_1) or just read here:

In 1983 U2 released this track which has been described as one of the best political protest songs of all time. Bono and his company play it in every live, maybe their only part. Let the video speak:

Scott Mumford and his "sons" make a living from music and for music. In every live they give their best and it is one of the most underrated bands of the last years at least.

I start a tribute to songs and music from the series of Panos Kokkinopoulos (10th commandment, Red circle, 3rd law). We have all spent the night watching these series, even if by chance. The music was unique with songs that very few knew. Listening to them the mind goes straight to these series (and maybe to specific episodes).

I start with the enchantingly melancholy Muddy river of loneliness of the Norwegian Midnight Choir, played here by their frontman, Paal Flaata.

I continue with the same band and the elementary For the mercy of Maria.

I stay in Norway, but move on to Madrugada and the Strange Color Blue anthem.

And I close for tonight with the post-rock East Hastings diamond of the Canadian Godspeed You! Black emperor. The structure of the song (slow and builds tension in the beginning, potential and pushes them badly from the middle onwards) helped in many episodes the main character to realize the tragedy he lives and take matters into his own hands. Unique !!
