A proposed amendment includes arrangements aimed at activating the recent law, while describing in detail the tender procedure under which new licenses will be granted.
In a series of changes, both the licensing process and the operation of the casino licenses, the Ministry of Finance proceeded with an amendment to the thematic tourism plan.
The amendment includes arrangements for the two new casino categories (simple and broad-based), while detailing the competition process under which new licenses will be granted. It also contains arrangements to operate the recent casino law that has so far been inactive. In particular, on the one hand, it allows existing casinos to join the benefits of the recent law by releasing them to the Gaming Commission until 1 in December 2019. However, once they join the new framework they have a 12 month deadline to apply for conversion to EKZZ (casino-type casino).
At the same time, it raises the share capital of the two types of casinos that the shareholders of some of the operating casinos need to put their hands in their pockets in order to be transformed into special type companies (EKAZ), as provided by the institutional framework. According to the amendment, "the amount of the minimum, fully paid-up capital of EKAZs licensed as a simple type of casino amounts to five hundred thousand (500.000) euros, while the corresponding amount of the minimum, fully paid-up capital of EKAZs a casino license for a wide range of activities, amounts to one million (1.000.000) euros. After the first five (5) years of operation of the ECSCs of the previous paragraph, the above amounts should amount to five million (5.000.000) .10.000.000) euros and ten million (XNUMX) euros, respectively ".
Especially for Hellenic Casino, it allows the concessionaire that will prevail in the competition programmed by the Gaming Commission to give third parties non-gambling activities. However, licensing of gambling activities is subject to conditions.
