Comment
As expected, the rally Gronholm got it, and even easier than one would expect. The two major accidents of the first and second days played a key role in the development of the race.
On the first day at the 5 special, Duval with Ford had an inaccurate exit from the road that brought him back in a half-destroyed car back into the street, with those in the timing sequence making worse times than they had been in the past. Eventually the specialist was canceled (if it counted, things would be very different).
More important was the accident of the second day when Pykalisto with his private Peugeot, on the 8 special, went off the road, uphill, back on the road, and Rovanpera following in the timing sequence, unaware of spectators or critics, fell sharply overhead. Pykalisto car. The result was that almost two cars were broken up and Pykalisto ended up in hospital in shock but fortunately without serious injuries, and Rovanpera (who was also our main betting player) out of the race. Too bad because by that time he was fourth with little difference from the forwards, had started the day offensively and had beaten the previous specialist and showed he could do something better. After this serious accident the drivers went more conservatively with the aim of keeping their seats and not hitting.
Other conclusions (outline):
Tomi is back. O Makinen in second place, he did well despite not expecting it, and showed that he is a great driver.
The Citroen they didn't do well despite the rally being on their schedule and last year. We keep a note that out of the asphalt Citroen may not be very fast.
Ο Martin he is strong. Despite his inexperience in general and his inexperience in this particular race, despite running the 2002 car which is definitely slower than competitors, he was kept relatively comfortable in the heatsink and eventually finished fourth by throwing dust (or rather snow) on the following McRae. We will keep that in mind in the coming clays.
