In the skate race, the 27-year-old shooter scored 125/125 in the qualifying round and 25/25 in the final, winning the perfection and together with the gold medal in one of the most important shooting competitions in the world.
The conquest of the gold medal for the first time by Mita in the World Cup and at the same time the equalization of the world records make the 27-year-old TEFAA student a candidate for a medal at the London Olympics, for which he has already sealed the qualification.
"I will never forget this fight," Mitas said after his success, adding: "a dream came true. I started shooting in 1998 and since then I have been dreaming of the perfect fight. Today (yesterday) I felt very good. "My mind was clear."
Until yesterday, Mita's best place in the World Cup was second in 2010 in Dorset while in 2011 he was third in Maribor.
Mitas did not hide his anticipation for London 2012. "My big goal is the Olympic Games. I will compete in the test event in London in April and then in the World Cup in Lonato, while before the Olympics there is the European Championship in Cyprus ".
Among their opponents in Tucson was 2000-year-old Ukrainian gold medalist Mykola Milchev, who won the silver medal, and Beijing French bronze medalist Anthony Terras, who finished fourth. Mexican Carlos Romero was third.
The world record in the 125/125 qualifier was broken for the first time in 2007 by the American Vincent Hancock and since then it has been equaled by 8 athletes. The 150/150 world record was broken in the same race by Hancock and since then they have equalized it five times. In recent years, the sport of skating has become more difficult so that it is more difficult to break down the goals and of course to equalize the world record.
