D. Dzanatos on the BetShop case: EEEP's intention is to pay the amounts due to the players
"The confiscation of the BetShop players' bank account by the AADE can be a starting point for strengthening the legal and regulatory framework, which will strengthen the protection of the players", says in a statement released today by the Gaming Supervision and Control Commission, commenting the BetShop case.
It underlines at the same time that "the protection of the financial interests of the players of the legal gambling network is of vital importance to the Gaming Supervision and Control Commission".
The EEEP states that it is already working and will submit relevant proposals soon. Regarding the specific event, the Committee of Members of the EEEP, at its meeting on August 9, 2024, among other things, decided:
-The final revocation of the decisions numbered 578/7/05.07.2021 and 578/8/05.07.2021 of the EEEP regarding the granting of Internet Gambling Licenses, Type 1 and Type 2 respectively, to the company with the name "B2B GAMING SERVICES (MALTA) LIMITED", for violation of the condition of their grant under item 10 (c).
- The forfeiture in favor of EEEP of the letters of guarantee of good performance numbered F02383/00 and F02384/00, for the reason that the company did not comply with its legal obligations and has not made the immediate payment of profits to players due to the cessation of its activity.
-The initiation of procedures for the payment of the amounts owed to the players who had an electronic player account on the company's website and do not have access to the money owed to them.
In a statement, the President of the EEEP, Dimitris Dzanatos, emphasized "that the intention of the EEEP is, always in accordance with the Gaming Regulations, to pay the amounts due to the players. In order to realize this goal, it is necessary to establish the appropriate technical and procedural conditions. EEEP is already working in this direction."
