PokerStars.net is pleased to announce the maiden attitude of the European Poker Tour in Greece this autumn! The opening Greek event will be the fifth EPT Season 8 at the 15-20 November, and is expected to take place at the glamorous Club Hotel Casino Loutraki. Club Hotel Casino Loutraki (CHCL) is expected to host the EPT in Greece for the first time in the history of the event and includes a five-day € 4.400 Main Event as well as a wide range of exciting side events. The EPT Loutraki event comes after the highly successful two PokerStars.net Greek Poker Cup events that were organized earlier this year at the popular resort and attracted a total of more than 500 players from Greece and other parts of the world.
No-Limit Texas Hold'em poker is growing fast in Greece and has become extremely popular. The Greek players have already made several successes in their European Poker Tour, with Konstantinos Nano finishing 3 at EPT Vienna last season for € 265.000. The historic maiden EPT on Greek territory will enable local community players to compete with some of the world's top players for the big title.
Greek pros Konstantinos Alexiou and George "gkap13" Kapalas have also participated in EPT final tables in recent years. Kapalas - who managed to enter, among other things, World Series of Poker final tables - is one of the three PokerStars "Greek Challengers" who will compete at EPT Loutraki. The other two are of course Alexis "J0hnny_Dr@m@" Zervos and Stavros "IDOLLS" Kalfas, with the latter finishing 7th in the first Greek Poker Cup in March and 3rd in the EPT San Remo €2.000 side event.
George Kapalas said: "It is great news that the EPT will visit Greece for the first time. I am really excited that such a popular tournament will take place in our country. Greek players will have the opportunity to face each other in a high level tournament with huge prizes and the players who will visit Greece will enjoy the hospitality and the beauties of our country. "
