The Greek Cup, as well as the categories below SuperLeague Interwetten was one of the ... victims of the pandemic that hit the whole world and especially our country in recent months.
The people in charge thought long and hard before giving the green light for it to take place, but this happened with some conditions. Thus, this year the Greek Cup will be held in a different format and only SuperLeague Interwetten teams will participate.
The EPO was waiting until the last minute for the decision of the infectious disease specialists and the committee to see if it will be able to include the teams of Super League 2 in the organization of the Greek Cup.
However, the EPO was not covered by the answers of the infectious disease specialists and so the teams of Super League 2 can not take part in the institution of the Greek Cup!
The new Format of the Greek Cup

The decisions of the EPO
The Executive Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation met today and took the following decisions.
The organization of the Greek Cup season 2020-21 will continue with the participation of only the PAE of Super League 1, as in today's letter the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health against coronavirus COVID-19 informed the EPO that "regarding the participation teams of Super League 2 in the conduct of the Greek Cup, the members will return within ten days in order to make suggestions on the subject taking into account the latest epidemiological data ". The decision of the Commission makes practically impossible the further planning, but also the smooth conduct of the event, after that the participation only of the Super League 1 PAE is a unique possibility for this year's organization of the Greek Cup. For the matches of the Greek Cup, the approved health protocol of the matches of Super League 1 will be observed.
Following the letter of December 4, 2020 of FIFA and UEFA, which includes their comments on specific provisions of Law 4726/2020, to request, following their request, the Deputy Minister of Culture & Sports Mr. El. Avgenakis to organize joint meeting as soon as possible, in order to "point out issues of mutual interest to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, with the aim of harmonizing the Law with the obligations of the EPO as a member federation of FIFA and UEFA".
