Maccabi Haifa – Juventus

For the 4th matchday of the 8th group of the Champions League, Maccabi Haifa welcomes Juventus to the Sammy Ofer Stadium. The group is completed by Paris and Benfica, the top two in the ranking continue to the last 16 of the competition, the third in the Europa League.

Maccabi fought as hard as they could in last week's match in Turin but succumbed to the superiority of Juventus and were beaten 3-1.. He had a passive role in the first half and received several phases and went to the locker room behind with the score 1-0. At the beginning of the replay, he conceded a second goal and there he reacted by reducing in the 75' while he also had a crossbar a few minutes later the third goal in the 83' and to lose all hope for a positive result.
This was Maccabi's 3rd defeat in the group, which of course lost the minimal hopes for qualification anyway, mathematically, however, it hopes for 3rd place.
On Saturday for the championship, having many changes in its lineup, it was a victim of surprise as it was defeated by the newly-enlightened Maccabi Bnei Reina 1-0. A result that, after yesterday's victory of Maccabi Tel Aviv, dropped them to 2nd place in the standings.

Even though it was difficult, Juventus prevailed 3-1 in the previous game against Maccabi and continues to hope for a place in the top two that leads to the next phase of the competition even if the odds are not on her side. This was their first win in a total of 3 games which puts them in 3rd place, compared to 7 for Paris and Benfica who are tied for first place.

But on Saturday, for the championship, it proved to be inferior to the circumstances and was defeated at San Siro by Milan 2-0. For one more match she had problems with her performance, offensively she could not look threatening and conceding a goal in each half she was justly defeated. Now having just one win in their last 5 league matches they have dropped to 8th place with 13 points, 10 behind leaders Napoli.

Maccabi are struggling in the group against behemoths and showed last week in Turin that they are not an easy opponent. Juventus, for its part, is burning for victory, it is the favorite but it is not convincing. Betting on goals as the quality of Juve offensively is a given, while Maccabi at home rarely stays at zero.
