Olympiacos welcomes PAOK for the 3rd matchday of the Greek Stoiximan Super League play offs.
Loss of points for Olympiakos last Sunday, they were held to a 2-2 draw at home against Aris Thessaloniki. In the first hour of the match, it was the team that dominated and was in front of the score with a lead of two goals. In the last half hour of the match, however, he fell into defensive mistakes and gave the visitors the right to score twice and shape the final result.
So, at the end of the 2nd matchday of the play offs, Olympiacos was in 3rd place with 60 points, 3 less than Panathinaikos and AEK who share first place. This tie and the way it came also brought Mitchell's resignation from the Olympiakos bench, with former sporting director Zose Anigo being the one to sit on the bench in today's match.
It also comes from a bad result PAOK, in the derby of the 2nd matchday, was defeated in Toumba by AEK 1-0. It was a fair result as they couldn't impose their pace despite having chances to score. In contrast to his opponent who seemed to control the pace and be more efficient by scoring the winning goal in the last quarter of the match.
So PAOK missed the chance to get close to the top of the standings, remained in 4th place with 57 points, 6 less than Panathinaikos and AEK.
It is an important encounter in the battle for the title with both rivals coming off bad results and wanting a return to success.
The winner of the matchup will continue to hope while the loser will hardly have time to cover the lost ground. Both have plenty of quality in the middle and up front and score with ease.
Prediction: Olympiacos - PAOK Goal - Goal with an odds of 2.00
