Scotland in the group stage may not have been able to oppose Denmark that finished comfortably in the first place but had no issue getting this second, ahead of Israel and Austria and won its participation in the playoffs.
Due to the war situation, however, the matches did not take place in March and since then the Scottish team was limited to friendly games, initially staying at 1-1 with Poland while a few days later brought a 2-2 draw in Vienna against Austria.
Qualifying thriller in the playoffs for Ukraine as it took a combination of results to be the one that will finish in 2nd place in the group behind France. In the last match they only wanted a victory in Bosnia and they managed to prevail with 2-0 and at the same time Finland lost at home to France with 2-0 and so the team of Ukraine was the winner of the night.
The war situation in the country forced the national team to prepare in Slovenia while giving three friendlies with Gladbach (2-1), Empoli (3-1) and Rijeka (1-1), even having a new coach on its bench as Andrei Shevchenko resigned in August and was replaced by Oleksandr Petrakov.
Scotland is the big favorite of the match as it has the advantage of home but also because it faces a team that has been inactive for many months. Even so, Ukraine will not fall undefeated, in the qualifiers it scored easily and it will certainly have a great mobilization due to the events in its country.
