AVELLINO - CATANIA 2.
The supporters (and I think also the players) lost totally the confidence to stay in Serie B this year and lost the confidence in the owner Mr.Casillo that promised new players for january 2004 but till now nothing and he is trying to sell someone good to get some money. His purpose this year was this: make a squad with all young players and then sell someone good during the season, no matter if the club goes in Serie C. Last year he did in this way in Serie C, Avellino won the championship and at the end of the season he sold almost all the players and got abt EUR 7.000.000 from this. After he made a squad this year spending EUR 300.000: too little to afford Serie B, or not? From the beginning of the season Avellino stayed at the last place and he and his trainer Zeman told to the supporters everytime that everything is going well and Avellino will be in Serie B next year. Now, after the match against cagliari for the first at a question from journalist "Mr Casillo don''t you think that Avellino is with 1 foot in Serie C? " he answerred "and which is the problem".At this point the supporters will make a sit in on Sunday afternoon along the streets in Avellino (the match is on Monday) and will not enter to the stadium on Monday. The President on the other hand answered that all the abonaments are not valid on Monday. This is all to prevent the ultras supporters from entering the stadium but even if they enter they will go against Avellino, will not support them!
As you see it is a very hot situation.
The performance of Avellino in last game was just decent for 30 min. After the 1st goal of Cagliari could have lost 10-0.After the match Tisci, the Avellino player was assaulted from the Av supporters and now want to leave the club.Catania lost his game at home and having ambitions of promotion they must win this game and have the occasion to prepare to the last home defeat. Catania has a very good record away, Avellino will play without Cecere (goalkeeper).

Everything your friend said is true. I will add a couple of things:
Avellino supporters tried to assault the players during yesterday's training session and the session had to be stopped.
Avellino is actually not a bad team. They play a very tactically sound game, usual Zeman team, with balls always perpendicular to goals...But, overall quality is horrible. There are a couple of players worthy of a mediocre Serie B team, and the rest were reserves last season, and unknown bought for peanuts hoping that Zeman could transform them into a team.
In fact, Zeman was hired for two reasons: 1) because he has a name, and his hiring gave credibility to a transfer campaign where the owner sold everything not nailed down, and 2) hoping that in some way Zeman could reprduce Foggia miracle where some players coming from nowhere stunned italian Serie A. He forgot that those players where unknown at first, but their names were Signori, Baiano, Rambaudi and so on...
Avellino until last week (what happens after this week is a mistery: each team responds differently to these situations. Some crumble immediately, other have a burst of pride, and deflate later - like Lazio is doing now) had the same problem. Better team on the field, then when something goes wrong they stop playing, considering the game as lost.
The conclusion here is that Avellino will certainly lose if Catania goes ahead. I will have something on Catania myself, but I'm not listing this as a certainty, since Catania looks a bit on a downward turn. As a last note, I'll add that the game after a disastrous performance, like Catania had last week at home vs. Triestina, they always rebounded with a good performance.

As you confirmed info from my italian friend I am totally sure that Catania (2.80) has huge value!
Catania is very good on away and Avellino with all this mess has little chances to suprise here.

Avellino Catania will be played tomorrow evening. Nothing new, though there is still uncertainty about whether Tisci (Avellino captain) will play.
He swore not to wear that shirt anymore, but it seems he reconsidered.
Avellino has three regulars out and three youngsters on the bench, but this means relatively since quality is so poor, there is little difference between regulars and reserves.
Catania will miss one regular in midfield and two substitutes.
Avellino fans will demonstrate outside the Stadium and will stay silent for the first half.
I will go with 9/10 on Catania.

I'm very confident on Catania win. they will miss three players in midfield (two regulars and one reserve) but they have plaenty of plaers there. There may be some problem with offence, as they'll play newcomer Berrettoni alongside Oliveira for the first time.
But, Avellino will miss four regulars, the keeper amongst them.
All the organized supporters will not chant throughout the game, and they will sit outside the Stadium trying not to let people in. Very tense atmosphere in Avellino, double police force there.
